Jira Lean Analytics Dashboard v1.3
3 min readJul 28, 2019
I just published version 1.3 of the LAD. The primary updates are to the Monte Carlo Simulation Based Forecasting. Along with a brand new UX there are quite a few new features and enhancements that will make the forecasts easier and provide additional options for scenario planning
Here are the specific enhancements
- All models now allow you to forecast multiple issue types simultaneously. In the previous version you could only forecast a single issue type at a time. Each issue type can also be filtered on percentile independently
- All models produce input statistics to provide insight into the data and make it easier to know how you might want need to filter it
- An option for accounting for unplanned work at the issue level has been added
- The Status Time model has been completely re-written to be a full-blown workflow simulation. For each simulation will create a back with random status time and run those backlog items through the workflow randomly selecting the amount of work that gets done on each each day. For each status you can modify WIP limits, improve/worsen status times, and add/subtract specific roles
- The Status Time model also includes the ability to modify team member WIP limits, max people/issue, ramp-up time, and context switching penalties
- The Status Time model produces metrics on the simulation that the other models cannot. These allow deeper insight into how changes to the model parameters will impact things like cycle time and throughput.
- Date Started and Date Closed filters now default to the dates in the Week Range Start and End parameters in the Processed Data tab
Version 1.3 of the LAD includes full documentation of the all the new features in the LAD Guide. Comments and suggestions are always welcomed and encouraged.
